OIL GONE EASY HOME & DRIVEWAY S-200®
OIL GONE EASY MARINE S-200®
Oil Gone Easy is the latest green technology breakthrough in cleaning oil and fuel spills safely and effectively using bioremediation; a process that uses naturally occurring microbes in the environment to break down contaminants such as oil and fuel. These patented eco-friendly cleaning products attract hydrocarbon eating bacteria which naturally exist in the environment. Once the oil is consumed, the product dissolves - Oil Gone Easy® biodegrades completely and the environment is returned to its original pristine state (the process may take one to two weeks).
Important Information about Oil Gone Easy
- Environmentally safe – The greenest way to remove oil.
- Cleans spilled oils and fuels
- Will not harm rubber, metal, wood or fiberglass
- Totally biodegradable
- One application cleans the spill on land or water
- Adheres to the hydrocarbon – rain will not wash it away
- Will not wash away in tidal areas
- Contains no bacteria
Oil and other petrochemical spills are both unsightly and hazardous to the local environment. Until now, the only method for eliminating such stains involved the application of toxic chemicals which can ultimately be as harmful as the oil spill itself.
Finally, Oil Gone Easy has developed a method to remove oil spills and stains without using toxic chemicals. Introducing, Oil Gone Easy Home & Driveway S-200 and Oil Gone Easy Marine S-200, eco-friendly products that uses nature to clean up oil.
With one simple application, the area is charged with a nutrient solution that stimulates the rapid growth of natural, oil eating microorganisms. The oil is broken down into harmless components. Whether the spill is a small vehicle, pipeline or tank leak or a huge supertanker, this stain remover will resolve the problem of pollutants on land or as sheens on water.
These stain removal products have been tested on a large scale basis under the most rigorous conditions. Oil Gone Easy is the next generation improvement of the product that was used in the cleanup of the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska. This eco-friendly stain remover is recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency of the United States of America and it is now available for home use [See EPA Documentation: http://www.epa.gov/emergencies/content/ncp/products/s200.htm].
Technical Information
The oleophilic (meaning having a strong affinity for oil rather than water) outer shell will adhere to the hydrocarbon and remain there despite rain, wind or tides. It creates a micro-emulsion facilitating the access of indigenous bacteria to the contaminant. The outer shell acts as a starter for hydrocarbon degraders. So the microorganisms start increasing in number. Unlike regular fertilizers, Oil Gone Easy does not serve as food for non-hydrocarbon degraders; therefore, there is only growth of the microorganisms necessary to decontaminate the site. Once the outer shell is broken down by the indigenous bacteria, the result is rapid degradation of hydrocarbons, a microemulsified hydrocarbon and the exact quantity of Nitrogen and Phosphorus needed to biodegrade the contaminant.
If you apply it on water, Oil Gone Easy Marine S-200 will disperse in the water column. It will attach to hydrocarbons and create a micro-emulsion which is less dense than water, therefore it will rise to the surface where more oxygen is available and the conditions for biodegradation are better.
Oil Gone Easy is a bioremediation accelerator used for the remediation of hydrocarbon spills, or leaks. It is a non-intrusive, cost-effective remedy for the cleanup of hydrocarbons. These hydrocarbons include but are not limited to gasoline, #2 up to #6 diesel fuel, jet fuels, kerosene, lubricating oils, hydraulic oils and crude oils.
S-200 is a white water liquid and as such can be sprayed with traditional liquid spraying equipment, such as: pressurized sprayers or backpack sprayers. The recommended application rate is approximately 1 to 1 by weight of Oil Gone Easy S-200 as compared to the hydrocarbon being remediated. In other words, use 1 pound of Oil Gone Easy S-200 for every 1 pound of hydrocarbon you are remediating.
For applications on water, first, stop the spill and clean up as much free product as possible with skimmers, mechanical equipment, etc. Once that is resolved, apply Oil Gone Easy Marine S-200 to the surface of the hydrocarbon/water mixture.
On a square footage application, the amount to use is approximately 1 to 10 pounds of Oil Gone Easy Home & Driveways S-200 for every square yard of surface area. The amount sprayed is dependent on the amount of hydrocarbon on the surface you are spraying.
